Unfortunately I can't really give people advise, I will comment on whether I like photos but I am not good enough myself to advise people.

you know its there you can see it .... your opinion is as good as the next woman....

I`ll impart with any of my somewhat limited experience! I don`t see the point of secreting away info tbh, especially if you only do it as a hobby.

I would certainly comment on nice eyes etc, or if i think something is blown or needs cropping or if theres a distraction if thats what you mean, it's just some things i still don't understand, but i am learning from here, :D

My way of helping others is usually restricted to giving them a link to a thread I've seen previously that may answer their question.
The only trade secret I have is how to completely blow both sky and foreground while having the object of the image under exposed and I doubt very much anyone would want to know how to do that

I always share, because hopefully it encourages others to share, which means I'll learn something from them when there turn comes to share something I need to know. I just hope people dont find me too critical sometimes, because I can sometimes notice smaller things on an other wise brilliant photo, but still mention them.

i'm sure it will come round mate

it certainly has for me....

Having been the recipient of your help in the last couple of days I would just like to say a big thank you for it. I was amazed at how much of a difference your tips made to the image and would rate this week as one of the best of my photography life to date. :)

Getting back to the question in hand, clearly I still have a lot to learn myself, but where I feel I can offer honest advice that might help the op improve their shot I will. We all fall into the nice shot / great image response from time to time, but I try to avoid this where possible.

again thanks for your help

Can't beat being as tight-lipped as Secret Squirrel IMO

All this sharing/helping others is carp and obviously not what TP is about, as they say on the Pirate films...

"Take what you can, give nothing back"

Works a treat

DD

PS - I may once or twice have passed a comment or two, I just hope they weren't helpful in any way :D

:lol::lol::lol: A har me hearties!

Share and share alike is my approach, I've learnt so much from peeps on here (you know who you are :D) why shouldn't I pass on my limited knowledge or any tips I might have. If someone can benefit from experiences being passed around so much the better, it's not like we are doing anything new or innovative, just increasing knowledge and technique - let's be honest, it's all been done before!

I'm still very much a newbie to this DSLR malarky and I have received some really good advice via this forum.
Last night I passed some tips onto a friend that I have learned from you guys.
It's not often that I have found people so willing to be helpful with various subjects and I appreciate the help that people give.
I believe in share and share alike and I am forever telling people to join this forum because most people are very helpful.

I try my hardest to give people as much as advice as I can. It is much but at least I try. I am not bothered about telling people what settings to use, where to stand/go etc. Not bothered in the slighest.
