You did well to catch the Heron if they are anything like the ones around here.
I like ducks.(y)

thanks guys
Heron was a bit skittish - I got to 40' and then he was off!

Yep,herons are like that,inconsiderate gits...............

Some birds you just have to sit and wait for, most herons are in that camp i`m afraid.

fracster - thanks!
justlooking - most kind!

I,m loving the Heron shot (y)

I am lucky to get within 400yds of one before it takes flight, they can sense a lens pointing at them :D

I nearly didn't see it
I was walking along the canal when I noticed "something" 2 barge-lengths away
"blow me" (I paraphrase) - that's a heron
drops to knees, aims, fires
got a couple off before he decided enough was enough

Both lovely captures. The herons my fave just because they're such elusive characters and you've managed to get a cracking shot (y)

jc55, duckydoodle - thanks guys! :)

Love them, especially the Mallard - shows off his colours nicely.

thanks guys!
especially pleased with the heron
closest I've managed to get - so far!

Nice shots, I normally see Herons as they are leaving so catching one while stationary is pretty damn good in my book.
