Heron close up and personal

Sat for ages waiting for this Heron to fish close to where I sat, well worth the wet Bum I think Sony a77 + Sigma 150-500mm

Managed one or two shots and he was away

Wonderful shots, I seen one yesterday when out walking my friends dog but couldn't get near him/her with my camera.

Nice shots

I feel it would have been nice to pull back a bit on the first shot to have more space on the right making the subject part of the scene. Still a lovely shot though.

The second is interesting. The head on view combined with the algae and surface level of the water give the heron an almost floating duck like appearance.

The Heron must have had a cracking green tide line when it came out.

Great capture Les, really enjoy watching these birds but whenever I seem to get close they spot me, squark and are away!

Thanks guys- a very timid bird I agree, I just sat very still in the reeds, I was wearing my cammo jacket and cap though & as said I only managed the two shots
