Maybe a slight crop on the third shot to take out the seagull.

Paul nice crisp well exposed shots (y) ... near the M6?

I would leave the Gull, if you cropped that shot the bird would not have any room to fly into, which would be poor compositionally.
 
Excellent shots, with plenty of detail in the heron. The heron really stands of from the b/g.

absolutely brilliant capture of the bird, great panning and sharpness, i think you have been extremely unlucky with your backgrounds, not your fault at all but if the b/g was better they would be classic shots.(y)

Hi Martyn about 2 miles up the A5 next to the toll road Cannock end.
I agree with the composition comment.
