Critique Heybridge Basin wreck

I wanted this to be edited a bit grittier with more detail and contrast but not sure what I'm doing wrong. Comments and advice welcome please.

It looks like you've already lost the blacks in trying to force the contrast when the light was flat. There really is no substitute for good light. If you want a lot of contrast in mono images, you'll need to shoot on a sunny day.
