Following a recent split from my wife, I bought my first DSLR camera last week to give me and my 14yr old and 8 yr old a shared interest. I bought a Nikon D3500. Total Beginner and have the camera set on 'auto' but we did try the manual focus while at a zoo this weekend as the AF was just picking up the enclosure fence so we were quite proud of ourselves lol

Our aim is just to get out and about in the area at weekends, taking pics of interesting subjects and enjoying it together, rather than aiming for the perfect pic.
