Hi,

I have been asked to send someone a Hi-Res image. Now it is family so they will want to get it printed, but how do i do this.

So i have the image in Raw, i have done a bit of PP, and now they want me to send them the file.

Thanks for any help...

Two steps...

1. Save it into a file format their printing company will accept, or they can read if they are going to print it at home. High quality jpeg or tiff would normally do. If saving as tiff, make sure it's compressed.

2. Now you need to get the file to them. Check the size of the file after you have saved it. If it's over 5Mb, you may have difficulty in e-mailing it because a lot of companies limit the maximum file size (some less than 5Mb too). You have a couple of options here too:

a) Dependent on the size or print they are looking to make, you can resize the image in your editing software to reduce it's dimensions and hence make a smaller file or,

b) use one of the photo sharing sites, or pain old file sharing sites to upload your picture and let them download over the interweb.

If I've missed the point, let me know and I'll try again!

HI Res is a really vague phrase. However I would read this as native resolution, so if you have a 12Mpixel camera the native resolution would be around 36Mb. So process the image and save it as an 8 bit JPEG at High Quality, which will give you a JPEG at around 4Mb
