I am after a flash for my nikon d5100 but don't want a stupidly expensive one. Can anyone recommend one, cheers x

Yongnuo 565 does ttl and costs around £95 brand new. If you can live with out ttl, you could go with the cheaper 467 model, but thats manual only.

The Nissin Di622 is very good. The mark 1 does TTL, the mark 2 does i-TTL. I would personally go for the MK1 in your boat as the D5100 doesn't do Nikon Flash commander anyway so any off camera stuff would likely be done manually or with cables which you don't need i-TTL for.

The Nikon SB400 is also decent for on camera flash stuff.

What do you call stupidly expensive? The Nikon SB-600 flash sell around the £130 mark in the classifieds

Thanks for all your feedback. I have found a flash. Does it just go on the top of my camera. X

Are you certain it is a Nikon compatible flash? If it is not it can cause serious damage.

If it is Nikon compatible, yep just slide it onto the hotshoe.

Yes it says it's Nikon compatible and I have emailed the seller to make sure. X

What model is it?

Some older Nikon compatible flashes may not work on the camera hotshoe due to the voltage they put through the hotshoe. the wrong one could damage your camera.
