High ISO

I'm looking at using high ISO settings, What i would like to know is would you set the cameras boise reduction system to Standard, low or strong or would you disable and reduce ISO in CS6.

depends what you are shooting. I don bother with it as I shoot raw so NR on the jpegs just takes up time and it can upset the fps on some camera too.

I'm the same, I have all in-camera NR turned off and deal with it in PP.
I think that's the general recommendation as it gives you much finer control over how much noise you actually remove.

I always shoot in RAW and do NR in PP. It's the most convenient way for me. I decide how much noise I want to remove. If you shoot jpeg, I think Standard would be the optimal setting alowing you to retain the detail.

I'm with the others on this. I have it disabled, i read somewhere that the time between shots is longer as the noise reduction process takes place in camera.

Same as everyone else. Deal with it in PP.

I personally don't even worry until I'm above 6400 on my D7000 / 1600 on my LX7. Then I'll be applying local NR to ensure optimum detail. I don't actually like applying NR to the entire image as I find the detail compromised too much, hence when I shoot at high ISO, PP becomes 3x as long.

I have a D700, and always have NR off, I never shoot in RAW, and with the D700 I rarely need much post processing for noise anyway even at highter iso`s, I dont have any noise reduction plug ins..

IIRC if you shoot RAW then none of the in camera NR, HTP, LENR was applied? I might be wrong

What kind of 'high ISO' are we talking?

Like most people, I go with "shoot raw and deal with the noise in post".

In camera NR is not always clever, it sometimes smooths out fine details that should be there and are not noise.
