For my trip to the coast I am looking at these purchases:

PRO STOP
85mm Density: 10 Stop
£50.00

Front Screw Adaptor - Metal Ho...
Option: 77mm
£10.64

MK2 Aluminium Holder
Option: 1 Slot + Ring
£46.81

I already have a couple of grad. filters by Hitech but use them in a COKIN P filter holder - from what I understand for the 10 stop to fit I need the hitech holder. (I can sell the Cokin holder/adapter later on)

From what I have specified above I presume I don't need anything else?

Cheers.

What lens is it for mate?

The 85mm filters arent for UWA's, so bear that in mind... You need the 100mm filters for UWA's.

Also I would consider getting the LEE Foundation Kit filter holder over the Hitech one.... no reason other than its LEE and therefore is going to be good, whereas I dont know anything about the Hitech one..

PS - if you DO get the LEE Holder, make sure you order the "LEE Gasket sized" Pro Stopper, not the Hitech size one or it wont fit!

HTH

Both the Lee and Hitech appear to be pretty much identical. The Lee is plastic though. The screws and brass bits might be slightly better on the Lee, but the hitech also comes with the 105 ring, which Lee want a small fortune for.

As above really, check the lenses you want to use it for and make sure you get the right size filter and adapter. You might need a wide angle adapter ring if you have a UWA lens.

You will find the 10-20 vignettes if you have more than 1 slot on the holder, you'll almost certainly need a wideangle adapter ring for that one too.

1 x Hitech 85 ND Grad Filter - ND 0.6 (HARD Edge) (10297) *= £12.50
1 x Hitech 85 ND Grad Filter - ND 0.6 (SOFT Edge) (10294) *= £12.50

The above is what I previously ordered....
They have workd fine with the holder and adapter I currently have....

Confused now as to what hitech products I need in order to use the 10 stop

:(

Help.......

This?

Hitech 100 PRO STOPPER 10 - (3mm Gasket) Hitech Fit
£56.67

Hitech 100 Wide Angle Adapter Ring
Thread Size*-*77mm
£26.00

Hitech 100 Wide Angle Holder - 2 Filter Slots
£46.00

And all the above would be compatible with both my likely lenses:
10-20 and 17-55 is ?

But is 100mm necessary? As the filter size on these lenses is 77mm so even the 85mm versions would be larger than the lens end? Or is there an advantage to having the 100mm width?

This looks like the correct list of what you'd need.

You will want as wide as you can go with the filters to avoid vignetting. 100mm is fine for the pro stopper, but if it was me, Id be looking for 100x150mm Grad filters tbh
