Hitech filters advice please

Hi chaps and chapesses.

Been searching the forum about Hitech and Lee filters,
as I'm looking to invest in a decent set of filters. Would love the Lee's, but can't really afford them. From my searching, it seems as though the Hitechs are pretty good though.

What I cannot figure out is the holder.

I'm using a Sigma 12-24mm lens, which doesn't have a screw thread, so I really don't know if the Hitechs are an option :thinking:

Any help always gratefully received :thumbs:
 
I dont think that will work. You'll need to measure the diameter of the lens hood to see if it'll fit. Won't be very secure though I wouldn't think. That's why I sold my 12-24 and bought a 16-35!

Not to mention the Hitech 85mm filters and probbaly the 100mm filters wont be big enough to cover the full frame. You'll need some 100x150 at least, maybe even the new 150x170 size filters made for the 14-24mm SW150 holder.

Ah ok, I didn't really think about that.
Although I'd be mainly using the 1D MKII (1.3 crop) 12mm is VERY wide still!

Hi Andy, that lens isn't good for filters but here is a link showing how Dimitri got around it if you must use filters on it. Linky

Hiya buddy.

That looks great, albeit a bit expensive mind!

I think TBH I may just give up on the idea.
Who needs silly filters anyway :D

Hitechs are cheap for a reason, I had them all but got shot of them as horrible magenta colour cast when stacking ruining photos. Would seriously consider getting LEEs, sure they cost double - but hitechs are cheap for a reason

Buy cheap, buy twice
