Looking at getting a 100mm 10 stop filter, looking at reviews of the older hitech pro stop filter it carries a dramatic colour cast however they have supposedly improved the filter. Does anyone have the updated filter who could advise how it now performs? I would order the lee variant but the current advise lead time is 1-2 months minimum!

Many thanks

Wolfy

There are three HiTech 10-stop NDs AFAIK, two currently I believe.

The original was dreadful, then the ProStop claims to be much better. Maybe it is, but it's still poor with strong infrared pollution problems. Now there is a new ProStop IR version, that I've not tried. If it's made of glass, it should be okay; if it's still made of resin, then it's very unlikely to be as good as a Lee BigStopper (glass) or any of the screw-in types (also glass).

Thanks hoppy, I have been researching on the net as well and the comments don't look good, to get the Lee is around 1-2 months but I may wish I had waited! Think I might be patient and order the lee.

Maybe ring around and you might get lucky. Or call Lee and see if they can point you in the direction of a dealer with stock. Delays are certainly not as bad as they used to be.

Take a look at speedgraphic.co.uk.

I've always found them to be very good with lead times. It might say 'stock due 10/5/13' but I have placed a couple of Lee orders with them now and I always got them within a week of placing the order.

Thanks guys really helpful will give them a go. Set on the lee now, looks the best bet!
