Hi All

I'm in the ridiculous position of running 2 different sized filter kits at the moment - Lee 100mm and the SW150 kit.

The reason being that Lee don't make a 10 stop for the SW150 kit and I use my 100mm 10 stop regularly.

However, I've seen that Hitech have recently released their IRND range and it appears that they offer a 150mm 10 stop. There is very little info around about the range. The little there is seems to be very positive.

Have any of you guys used/own the new IRND stuff? Is the colour cast as insignificant as suggested?

If the news is good I can sell the 100mm gear and complete my Lee 150mm kit plus the Hitech IRND 10 stop.

I have the 100mm IRND 10 stop. As far as I can tell, there is no cast. My lee big stopper had a very noticeable light blue tinge, the hitech has none that I've noticed.


The only issue I have with mine is the gasket doesn't quite fit snugly against the holder, so in certain circumstances I get some light leak.

I keep meaning to email them to ask for some extra gasket.

The other thing of course was it was cheaper than lee and arrived within a week, whereas you have to wait months for Lee now.

I did a search for the filters on the forum and saw that you'd bought one but it's good to know that after owning it for a while you've had no issues.

Incidentally, I hadn't realised you were Photoix. When I was researching the Lee system way back I referred to your youtube video more than once. Youtube is a great research tool, but it's only any good because people like you take the time to make the vids. So thank you.

Perhaps you ought to do one on the IRND ;)

No problem. I did do a brief video with the IRND, I did some long exposure shots, but it all went a bit wrong, cos I dropped my audio recorder in the stream, then my camcorder died, so I didn't get to shoot as much as I hoped.

Now I've got the d5100, maybe I can do something else with it, its just finding the time!

I watched that video. I meant to ask in my reply, where was that derelict pier? I know you showed it was near one of the Severn crossings but is there a village name or something?

My family live down that way so I quite often get out and about with my camera in that general sort of area (North Somerset etc).

The village is Aust. You can park pretty much outside the pier down a dead end lane off passage road.
 
Another :thumbs: for the IRND. So much better than the original Hitech 10-stop.
