Hk bns. EBay seller.

Bought from them a couple of times. Had to pay tax though.

Is he Honk Konk based ? Just a guess from the initials :)

Check the price he sells anything at, then factor in UK Customs and Theft charges, which are of course a total ripoff, because although VAT means Value Added Tax, the thieving Govt here add it to the shipping charges as well as the initial cost value of the item. Then you pay handling charges too

If its around £100 in Honk Konk, then it can end up being £150 by the time you get it to your doorstep.

Sounds likely :)

my above post still applies though. C&T dont check every package, but you have to be prepared in case they grab one at random.

I nievely thought that I would avoid customs going via eBay but it's not worth the risk tbh I guess.

Cheers for the input guys :)

Easy mistake to make Chris, but every parcel from outside the EU has to go to UK Customs & Theft, no matter what. Unless you're a Diplomat

I bought a Tamron 17-50 from this seller. It arrived promptly with no apparent customs intervention.
Unfortunately I had to return the lens I had & a replacement was sent out that was fine THEN a little while later I got TWO separate bills from customs!
All the phone calls in the world seemed to have no effect & despite myself & the seller contacting them saying one was a warranty replacement they still kept battering away for payment.
In the end I just paid the amount in full & put it down to experience...
I think I still saved money (although probably not much ) over buying in the UK so it was no real hardship :)

As for the seller, seemed happy to help & got involved with the issues with my lens & the customs charges so I'd say he was a decent seller :)

I'm only looking at canon 50mm f1.8 lenses so they don't exactly cost the earth anyway. This is my second hobby though so i'm trying to get the best I can as cheap as possible :o
