I stay away now and again too with my work now and also take my camera with me every time I go. I still haven't used it yet as I enjoy the down time and uninterrupted sleep too much!

Golf and motorbikes. Oh, and spending time with Mrs Nod!

me too i work in machines and normally do 10-12 hour days when away just to keep busy rather then sitting in a hotel room , my rooms are close to a marina so should get some good opourtunitys and there is a nice walk there too by the canal

Besides photography I also indulge in road cycling, PC customisation and building RC cars

African wildlife, firearms/shooting, history (particularly military history) and reading.

Fire spinning.
Just because I'm there :) It seemed rude not to.

I'm involved with The Beltane Society photographically, and as part of the learning process we go to Fire Club in The Meadows in Edinburgh.
It looked really cool playing with fire so I thought I'd have a go. So, I have a couple of fire staffs and very recently I've started poi - LED and fire.

You're never too old to learn.

Nah. I was very ill a few years back and she got me a) through it and b) hassled the quack to get me properly diagnosed, not to mention c) ferrying me round while I was denied driving privileges. Not having spent much time together with me well for a while before the illness got so bad, we're making up for wasted time - she's now completely self employed so we can be out and about and she can still man the telephone to keep the business going (the calls are mainly because people can't read the website...) I really do owe her my life!

A few things over the years but these days, photography has become my main pastime, with amateur radio probably next most engaging (G8PMA is my licence callsign), trying to get out hillwalking again after a very long gap. I'd like to take up horse-riding again but don't have time.

What a heartwarming and wonderful post Nod... careful, you're in danger of people realising you're not the curmudgeonly soul you try and act like at times :)

and, just to prove I can act out of character as well, can I wish you both many, many years of enjoying you're new lease on life together

Motorbikes and music spending as.much time as possible with Mrs bump

Act? I can't act to save my life! (Had to rely on Mrs Nod to act on my behalf!!!)

Thanks for the best wishes, we're doing our best!

And I know you've been through a life threatening episode or 2 yourself so the same to you (both paragraphs of the quote! :p:p:p)

Having to change job and work location with the same employer around five and a half years ago, my job has become like a hobby. The place is commonly called a retirement home but with the advantage of getting paid to take part in the activities.
I also go to the gym 5 times a week weight training / bodybuilding.
I follow the British Touring Car Championship attending 5 or 6 of the 10 race meetings which is where the photography interest plays it's part. I also collect related memorabilia from race teams I have followed over the years.
I used to collect music on vinyl and CD, still have my collection but seldom buy it now. Over the past few years been to see quite a few bands with my sons, sometimes we let the wife tag along too.
I collect car related memorabilia, most of it related to one manufacturer (no prizes for guessing which one) . It usually relates to cars I have owned or sometimes something that catches my eye.
I collect model cars, one day I will get around to find some way of displaying them all.

Hobbies? Some of them border on lifestyle. I've been playing various instruments since I became a teen, but currently involved with a couple of bands & in church playing guitar & sometimes bass. Used to mountain bike but getting a bit old to do it seriously, still like long walks in both country & city, travel, cooking. Oh, also have a sub 1 YO grandson.

Forgot to add, all the above gives me plenty of time to avoid the Mrs. :)

Travelling to and around Europe by rail is my main hobby.
This takes up a lot of my time planning and executing, most of my spare cash goes on it too.
Still involves photography, but visiting places of interest and enjoying the local food and drink plays a major part.
Just booked the outward leg of the summer excursion, D BAHN site has just released the first date I wanted.

My old ma was killed crossing the road four years ago this month and it changed my outlook on life.
Made me get on and see/do all the things I want to whilst I still can.
Always had the travel gene and never really liked house or garden activities.
Bought one because we needed a place to raise a family and now want somewhere to use as a base.

A bit restricted now but main hobbies used to be, camping, field target shooting, sea kayaking, and fishing, still have some gear for all of them.

Fly fishing and playing guitar

At the same time ?

I was into fly fishing from 14 yo. Never liked stocked fisheries. Had to be hill loch fishing. I loved the solitude.

Mountain biking.
Took this up at age 55 and loving it. Do it with my son. Now doing red trails, but not got enough balls for the black trails.
Fish keeping.
Have a tropical tank in my living room. Very therapeutic to watch. Used to have a marine tank, but longer hours at work made that impractical so changed to tropical.
Also bagged my first Munro last year and hoping to do more.
I also enjoy weekends away with my good lady, and spending time with my 2 grandkids.
Don't know how I have time for work....

Photography is my main one. That goes hand in hand with being outdoors - walking, hiking, woodlands, coastal visits, etc

It also covers car meets & events too when the weather is dry & I actually use the Escort!! It's not been out of the lockup since I MOT'd it in September due to time/weather/etc

The other half changed departments at the hospital last year so she is now dealing with out-patients rather than being based on a ward. This makes it Mon-Fri (4 x 9.5hour shifts out of 5) instead of 3-4 12 hour shifts consisting of days/earlies/lates/nights/weekends....... Gives us a lot more time together for outings & spending time with my kids every other weekend.

Always fancied trying that.
That was my main hobby for 40 odd years , found more than my fair share of goodies to , would love to still do it but fast creeping old age has put paid to that ...

Running - well not a hobby but I do it, and sometimes even enjoy it!

Airshows (especially Old Warden)

As an avid follower of the British Superbike series I attend a number of races throughout the season and so 2 years ago started creating some race related drawings. This has led to friendships with several riders but one young racer and his family in particular, and a small sideline for myself in drawing projects. My wife and young son are now completely hooked on the racing and so we attend most of the races now.

Away from the racing and drawing, hobbies are generally trying to get out for a walk with the family most weekends, preferably with the camera.

Woodturning, started a few months ago and really enjoying it.

UBC125XLT

Just put an external antenna up and it’s increased the range and clarity 3 fold.

It’s surprising what you hear

Got one of those, it's a nice bit of kit, don't have an awful lot of traffic to listen to up here though.
