Evening all you film lovers :D

I'm after some advice/suggestions for some different film to take on my holiday to the Lakes in Feb/March.

Usually I've just stuck with HP5 and left it at that, but I feel its time to venture and play with a little bit of colour. I'm going to try and stick with some C41 Print film since it easier (and cheaper) to just send it away at work than send it to a specialist lab/so it myself.

I'm half tempted to grab some Kodak Ektar 100 which looks really great, but I'm not sure if the weather will be that forgiving, so maybe I should go for some 400 speed?

I'll be using a Voigtlander R3a + Nokton 40mm f/1.4, which will give me the opportunity to shoot at a nice wide aperture for my portraity stuff... but
what films would you guys recommend? Any examples would be fantastic and much appreciated :)

Thanks,

Rob. (y)

For portraits, 160NC or 400NC (while you can still get it) from Kodak are built for the job, and 160S or 400H from Fuji are great too. They're all really nice films for other stuff as well. Rated a little over (I usually opt for 100 or 320 but a lot of people overexpose by a whole stop) bright colours will pop and slighter colours will hint, so skin gains a really nice tonality.

I quite like Pro 400H, gives some nice subdued tones.

Thanks guys, the 400NC looks spot on, all be it a tad pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for. For some reason I had it stuck in my mind that 400NC was slide film, not sure why that was

You should put a roll of Fuji Reala 100asa and Fuji Superia 200 asa in your bag to see if you like them.......I do.

Thats the camera I have and the lens I will be getting in March so I'll be very interested to see what you come up with. Can't help much with film as I'm a bit of a novice.

Cheers

Also a possibility :) I currently have a roll of Reala in my other camera at the moment - Will be interesting how that comes out as I bought it on a bit of a whim.

I'll be sure to post some examples for you when I get back, no doubt I'll try a couple of rolls out before hand so I'll keep you updated :)

Decided to grab some rolls of Fuji 400H in the end, 7dayshop have them at a pretty good price for +10 rolls :)

Tempted to grab some Ektar too... poor wallet.

For the lakes in feb/march i'd take along some reasonably vivid 100asa film and hope for some sun - so Fuji Reala 100 or Ektar 100.

Enlarging and measuring the image panning across a computer screen, I reckon this 35mm shot would look reasonable at 6 foot wide.
