Home broadband usage when away

My parents were away until 27th December, so how come there's usage each day as shown?

They had friends and family possibly popping by once every couple of days,but I assume they did a drive by and not stopped to use Internet, any thoughts on other usage

it's low level management traffic between your router and isp. completely normal.

i was out on christmas day and my isp showed about the same amount of data being used.

if you were finding a few hundred MBs being used then perhaps you can then assume that somebody knows your wireless access password.

If you are feeling paranoid, you can always change your password anyway for piece of mind. But... that level of traffic is completely normal.
 
That is pretty low usage really - I find that my usage is normally about 500kB per hour download and about 200kB per hour upload when I'm not at home - this is simply the router communicating with the isp.
 
200KB per day is less than a few pages of browsing. Entirely normal.

But no one should be logged on ?

So it's normal, with the router just pinging out or whatever the technical term is?
 
Just technical chatter between ISP and router, totally normal. It's a trivial amount of data, less than one moderately rich web page view.
 
When we go away, I unplug the router from the power and the 'phone line.
