home made diffuser

made a diffuser to-night out of plastic milk carton, when i put it over pop up flash the flash does'nt work, anyone any ideas why this is, basicaly cut out bottom of carton and made box over flash, thanks

Should still work, does it work without your diffuser

yes it works without difusser, and when there is a space in diffuser, it does'nt work when i make it tight over flash, cant work out why

Is the diffuser touching a micro switch making the camera think the flash is closed?

Is it blocking the ir distance finder beam for the flash to work out the distance?

just read your reply, and tried again, thats exactly what it was, as i held it down it was pushing down the flash, when i let go and just had it resting on flash it worked,
