Having been keeping my eyes open for a reasonably prices MT-24EX I've decided to try and cobble my own together.

I was thinking about using a couple of YN-560s (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GN58-YN-560-F...ashUnits_JN&hash=item3a624662b6#ht_5821wt_891)

along with one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Macro-Flash-B...quipment_RL&hash=item2a0b2d2cda#ht_1294wt_891

and then using a wireless trigger and couple of receivers such as the RF-603


has anyone else tried anything like this? is it really feasible? would the flash bracket take the weight of the flashguns?

It adds up to under £200 which it cheaper than the MT-14EX let alone the MT-24EX
 
I have used similar but using the Manfrotto bracket and a pair of 550ex's it does make the camera very heavy. but does give some good results.
 
Costs more (still a lot less than the MT-24ex), but it might be more practical with a 270ex flash?
I'd image the weight is much more manageable.

The weight of the 270 might be more practical but the flash is controlled through the camera (slower).

Also getting the two YN-560s gives more options for other uses too
 
Nice idea but its going to be a bulky rig. TBH I've found the mt-24 to be at its best with the mp-e 65mm. With the 100mm I use a single diffused 430ex.

I was planning on using it with the MP-E

If using a 90/100 or even 150/180mm I could always only use the one flash, or still use both but dial the power down a lot
