has anyone had ago at making on, i really want to make one but havent got a clue where to start,

Just a case of assembling a few bits of pipe, as they say on Top Gear "how hard can it be"

For a relatively little outlay ($14 he says) it looks like a great idea. Looks totally DIY and like you've robbed some scaffold, but it seems to work.

If you go right to the bottom he does sell them? :s

I've used a monopod with a weight taped to the bottom with my camcorder, it just adds mass and smooths out jerky movements, certainly better than just hand held.

I've made one, slightly different to that guys - I'll try and find a link to the video. I've not really used it though as I couldn't find anything decent to use as the weights, but one day I'll get round to it!
