Hi guys

Moving into a new house soon and it has a wing that the mother and father inlaw are going to live in.
It all runs off the same elec supply so someone suggested to me to use home plugs as that way they can run their pc off our broadband.

So started to look into them and from what I can see you get a 85mbps or a 200mbps, now I know that the 200 one will be the best/quickest but do i really need it that fast?? the mother inlaw just orders stuff from amazon and maybe look for the odd thing, send an email now and again but apart from that not alot else

I've been using Vesenet 85mbps homeplugs from homeplugs.co.uk for a couple of years now. Fine for internet usage and copying files provided you don't need to send GBs worth over the net.

i send 4GB+ worth of RAW files to my "server" over mine, isnt exactly slow. especially when you concider your average wireless is 54-100mbps.

I use the amazon 'own brand' home plugs myself(85 mb version). There as fast as i need them to be really and avoid me having to trail ethernet cabling through my house.

I have sent 6 GB of stuff over mine, and it was hardly slow, and certainly no slower than usual ethernet cabling.

I know a couple of people who have the 200mb ones(video editing guys) and whilst it is worthwhile for them, it is unne3cessary unless you are streaming or sending really large files.

200 mbps ones here for £50 ish.
