As the hotshoe viewfinder for the Ricoh GRD is about £130, I thought I'd have a go at making one myself.
It doesn't have any glass in it, so it doesn't show a wide angle view, but it comes in useful if the sun's too bright for the lcd screen. It's quick to use and I can use it with both eyes open as I get the same perspective with both eyes.
I put it on my Nikon F50, and the angle of view is roughly equivalant to 80mm in 35mm format.
All I have to do now is work out how to make some glass!



 
Be even cooler if you add glass and create rough(or prescise) markings to represent 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm. Then it's a mini rangefinder that autofocuses. ;)
