Honest opinions please....Nikon AF-S 55-200 DX VR

My daughter has a DX3100 with an 18-55 kit lens and is looking at buying an AF-S 55-200 f4-5.6 DX VR lens. We have been looking around and £100 - £110 seems to be about the going rate. As she is a poor student at Uni, would this be good lens for her or is there a better alternative? It's only for general photography.

I have the same combination on my d7000 - works for me

Both lenses are plastic mounts but they are fast & light

It's a cracking lens and the perfect compliment to what she already has, that it costs so little is an added bonus.

have a look also at 70-300 lens, much better. or at the equivalent tamron. the gap between 50 and 70 is not so big, she can do very well without.
