Hot pixels

Last night I was experimenting with star trails through my bedroom window. Achieved what I wanted and kept one of the 30 sec files to overlay for the interior (all the editing for the stars blacked out the room). My camera is a year old, and already looks plagued by hot pixels.

Is this the beginning of the end for my sensor?? or just one of the cons of digital photography that most people suffer with?

This is the highest concentration, there are a few more in different areas of the frame. This is a 100% crop, and the file size was set to small (minimize iso noise)

Part of the experience of digital, when exposing for long periods of time some sensor sites get a bit funny and do that. Turn on Long Exposure Noise Reduction and it will remove that.

Sensor shouldn't die, mine has done that for nigh on 4 years and it's not dead yet.

lol

alright, thanks for putting my mind at ease :D. will try LENR

Just tried the 30 sec shot with lenscap on and wow not one hot pixel it was iso100 f5.6 are my settings ok or not for this test

screen is completely black nothing at all if anyone wants a jpeg as I must be doing something wrong pm me with email addy and I will send it to you probably you may find some but I cant

I had to bite and try this also, but didn't notice one hot pixel at all. Is it really a common problem? Genuine question as I'm curious even though it would seem easy enough to remove hot pixels with a quick cloning.

Tommy.
