I took a visit to Birmingham yesterday for some inspirational books and found two gems for people to look out for.

The first is "The Art of iPhoneography" this is inspirational for the fact that it shows how much you can achieve with a camera phone and that some people only need a cheap point and shoot for some amazing shots!

The second is "Hot Shots" which is a book similar to the one mentioned above but it describes how to take the shots and it's none camera specific however most have been taken with cheap film P&S such as the Contax CX-2 etc.

I only had the cash to buy the one so I bought the "Hot Shots" one for £13 and it's truly inspired me! I'm also planning on getting the iPhoneography one next week.

It has very arty shots rather than the clean slimline digital shots so it's more like Lomo effects etc but it's awe inspiring to see that we should embrace the imperfections of photography and not worry about what camera we have. It's tempted me to get a cheapo Nikon L24 or Canon a1200 IS just to take around and shoot purely with that :)

I love Kevin Meridith's work and have Hot Shots and also his Photo Projects book.

If you google Lomo Kev his website will appear. I'm seriously considering going on one of his courses.

Thanks for the recommendation, have just ordered Hot Shots from Amazon :)

No problems it's an excellent book, you won't regret it :)
