I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of the above? I'm looking for something battery powered on a flexible arm that I can use for illuminating macro subjects to assist with focus. I plan to use it in combination with flash. Something along the lines of the Adaptalux Studio stuff but smaller/lighter and MUCH cheaper would be ideal. Something similar to the LED light on the Venus KX800 would work, but I'm already sorted for the flash part so just the LED light would be required.

Found this which looks like it might suit my purposes and might be worth a punt at the price: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/312098154148

Hard to know whether it'd be bright enough to be useful. Anyone have one or anything similar that they use for this purpose who can share their thoughts?

With hindsight it seems I should have put this in 'Talk lighting and studio'. Could someone move it please?

Or in the macro section, I'm sure you'd get some suggestions in there.

I do a bit of macro here and there, but never used any form of continuous lighting - with ML cameras you can set the live view to constant, so even when stopped down a lot you can see what you are focusing on.

Have you thought about a LED ring light?

Thanks, but I've already got a front-mounted twin flash setup so can't attach anything else to the front of the lens, hence looking for something hot-shoe (or possibly even L bracket) mounted

Thanks, that would also have been a reasonable shout as to where to have put the thread! I may well venture in there and ask when I get the chance....
