Hover moth in france (unknown insect like a hovering moth)

On our holiday in France i was captivated by trying to get a nice photo of these hover moths! many many blurry misses later this was my best attempt. the 5d mk2 isn't made for high speed bugs but i got something at least!

That's a pretty good go mate.
Lavender is a pain to get good shots on as the flowers are so small that they flit about so damn fast.
I have found one of the best flowers to catch them on is buddleia, then they tend to be a bit more predictable as they stay in an area for longer (relatively speaking) giving you chance to really get on the things.
