Taken in my garden in Essex, August 2009
The plant is an Echinops (Globe Thistle)

Thanks Robbo, this multi-headed plant was swarming with insects
I was concentrating on Bumblebees when this fella appeared
I thought at first it was a hornet and only later found it was
an unusually large Hoverfly. Fairly uncommon I think.
 
GO AWAY! It's people like you that make people like me look very ordinary (if that!!!) ;)

Cracking image. Can't fault it.
The colours are beautiful (maybe the yellows could be more yellow - if you know what I mean).
