How big can I go

No
I am quite new to digital photography and have recently purchased a Sony A200 (10M) camera with 17 -70 lens. I would just like to know to what size print I could go to while still keeping the quality in the picture.

take the size of the long edge of a file in px and divide by 300 (dpi) and you'll get a rough answer in inches 4000px longest side - divide by 300 dpi = 13" print approx - it's a starting point anyway - a lot of other factors will influence the quality too - choice of lens - focus accuracy - exposure accuracy - etc etc

Also a point to consider is how far away you are going to be when viewing the image, you tend to look at big images from further away. I have a print on my wall of a sunset, it was taken in JPEG and is blown up to around 17" tall and 55" wide, yes its pixelated but I continually get comments from people saying how fantastic it looks as they are always about 5' away from the print.

I also have a few orders to reprint it for a few of my friends.

I've got several A3 prints from my old D70 which is a mere 6MP. Even close up, they look fine to me. Pretty sure you'll be happy with similar size prints (chosen carefully from your best shots) from a 10MP DSLR if not even bigger. Best bet is to order a big enlargement from your chosen supplier (I have a very nice one that Yv obtained for me - IIRC, she took it with a D70s and Photobox printed it to 20" x 30") and see what you think of the result.
