How can I implement a Mood Book?

I am a member of a cohousing group - see http://www.cohousing.org.uk/ for further info about cohousing. We are at the design stage where we are using the services of an architect to design our modest homes. The architect has asked us to collect pictures to form a "Mood Book", which will help give him a feel for our likes and dislikes. Rather than cut photos from magazines and stick them in a physical book we think an online Mood Book would be a good idea - one where members can upload photos, rate them, record comments and so on and the architect can browse through the collection where and whenever he pleases.

I have a particular concern regarding copyright issues and wish to ask forum members for advice: if we keep the online Mood Book strictly private i.e. all images are for viewing by members of our group and the architect only, can we legitimately upload any photo to the Mood Book without getting permission from the image originator/owner first? If this is not okay could you recommend a practice that would serve our aim?

And, given that legitimate practice, what would be a good way to implement the Mood Book?

As you may have guessed I am new to online albums/galleries.

Regards, Ian

One simple way would be to link to the webpage where you see the image. Or ask the photographer, explaining what it is for and that it isn't for commercial usage etc.

What Lewis didn't quite say was "no matter how privately or discretely you do it, grabbing images without the owners consent would still be considered 'copyright theft'.

However, you can link to them, so creating a page full of links would be OK for copyright purposes, but not so great to look at.

I did mean link to the photographer's page/flickr/where ever, leaving the image in place, there's nothing wrong with pointing people in the direction of an image, certainly DO NOT hot link to the image or steal it for yourself.

I hadn't suggested that you'd advised to do anything improper, rather that you'd failed to make absolutely clear why you'd suggested ways other than just taking the image.

I'd 'got it' from what you said, but was unsure the OP would have.;)
