I came across this site from a 'photographer' in the same county as me. What do you all think about a) The pricing b) The quality of the work

How can anyone compete with these prices!!

I Would love to know what everyone else thinks? As I'm still picking myself up from the floor!!

i apologise for my first post.

EDIT: I am not a fan of the superimposed portraits.

Oh dear! Only one wedding shoot in the wedding portfolio, which you can bet your left tater is the only one they've done.

You don't compete with that on pricing - you just have to be a lot better which really isn't difficult. ;)

I'm just a beginner but looking at some of the stuff in his portfolio it seems not my cup of tea. Don't like the backgrounds or the photoshopping. I think I may even be able to match or better that at the 'newbie' level I am currently at and I wouldn't dream of charging anyone for it as it doesn't look in the slightest bit what I would expect from a professional photographer.

As to the pricing side I have no idea of current rates or what folk charge but surely anyone wanting lasting memories of their big day or of kids etc would check out this girls portfolio and steer away.

A home sitting for 30 squids though!!!! With pre shoot consultation!! After you take of your time travelling to and from location, set up, the shoot itself, and then post production, surely he's running at a substantial loss?

Gary has a point. It's easy to slag off someone else's work. All I'd say is the standard of work is pretty obvious, and the pricing is so low that there are no pretensions about the target market, so it's only a threat if you see yourself competing in that market?

He's earning his income from print sales then??

did anyone read the " about us " it does say alot to me anyway..

md;)

I'm not going to comment on the photography, the site design or the business model. As long as this chaps customers are happy then that is the main thing.

However, I am concerned that the tog has put a photograph of the Civil Partnership that clearly shows the address of his clients on the web for the world to see  I'm not sure the Data Protection Registrar would be that impressed.

i love the about us :D

My wife writes things for me.............lets say she's the creative one

i thought hes the photographer shouldnt that mean hes should be the creative one?

That's truly scary....

That's just what i thought, it just goes to show what people can get away with, ok there wedding packages start off cheap, but just imagine having there "tailor made package" paying £895 and ending up with that quality of work

The wedding portfolio doesn't even have a wedding in it.....it's Maggi & Margaret....quite a different thing altogether

Once the tog realses how much effort there really is in doing a wedding, that price will go up........ Not difficult to compete with that!

I tried to send him an email through his contact page, just to let him know we are talking his site, but my email address was not recognized, strange.

You never know, he might need a little nudge in the right direction, or not.

The only content under "glamour" is http://www.top-tasticphotography.co.uk/page23.htm.
Javascript is really not the best way to secure a page - in fact looking at the address I could have just guessed the address!

The actual code for the password hash generator PLUS the resulting hash is posted in plain text meaning it's completely open to anyone wanting to run a script to find it!
And then to make matters worse the actual javascript that is run to unsecure the page is right there too lol

personally i hope no one will ever mock my work or site like has just been done. He obviously feels he can provide for what he is asked and if his work on his site is what customers want then so be it.

its all to easy to crit harshly behind a monitor and keyboard. Everyone has to start somewhere. I am not saying his work is better than the rest of us, however if he does get business then good on him.

sorry for the rant. Its been a long day

I agree with 33L.

The thread discussion has degenerated & tbh is making me quite uncomfortable.
Personally I dont think trying to contact the photographer to point him to this thread is within the spirit of TP either!

Im locking this down for now, if the rest of the staff disagree it will be reopened in the morning!

Cheers guys :)
