how do i get a msa media licence

with great difficulty

you will need the backing of a recognised media outlet and/or tearsheets from previous work published. Media licences are granted to MEDIA, and therefore you need to prove your credentials in the area to get a licence

ahhhhh ok sorry, i misinterpreted the question, you could try emailing or calling them to ask for a formed to be posted or emailed to you

It all depends what you are using it for. If you were using it for say Forest Rallying, it is pointless purely because anyone can go into the forests.

If you are using it for track etc, then yes, it is worth having.

I don't have an MSA media pass and I've been granted accreditation for everything I've applied for although not done anything greater than BTCC. It does mean I've had to badger some journalists on occassion and an MSA permit would speed things up.

thanks for all the replys would i need one to become an official photographer for an event

your going to need to be a bit less coy on what your plan is then we can give you some better advice.

if you are going to be the official photographer for an event then you only really need permission from the event organisers.

or the venue, depending on who is handling the media affairs.

I am confused that in post #3 you say the following wouldnt be a problem for you.. which is impressive...you just needed the form

Then you ask a question like you ahve never been to one before..

Sorry just a bit confused.. but its not the first time :)

MSA media accreditation gives you no rights, you can't turn up at a venue and say here's my accreditation let me in.
As has been said you normally need to be working through/with a recognised publication.

Lets be honest nobody apart from photographers themselves (of course) want photographers all over a circuit/venue.

And although it may look like a great way to take photographs there are a lot of restrictions on movement.

MSA media accreditation is mostly a waste of time for what I'm guessing you want it for rallying, it supposedly speeds up the process of applying for accreditation for events. Get your name and face known to the events send copies of your 'printed media' to the relevant press officers.

Get a letter from the editor of the publication you will be representing on events, or most events will have a section on the application form for you to complete saying who the editor is and their contact details (and yes certain media officers will check up on you randomly) I check up on people I don't recognise or know of.

What do you think you will gain by having MSA media acceditation?

You still have to go through the same process as everyone else and you can still get refused entry to events.
