how do i get photoshop to recognise ARW files (raw)?

took a few snaps in raw format, and photoshop doesn't recognise it and i need to edit them.

could anyone help me out?

Which version of photoshop do you have? You need to download the latest version of adobe camera raw.

Alternatively you can use the software that came with your camera (Image Data Converter).

Not sure whether the latest version of ACR is compatible with Elements 6 (Don't know which version you would need for the A200), Adobe are known for trying to force you to upgrade by making the latest ACR versions only compatible with the recent versions of photoshop. :bang:

As I said, you can open and convert the files in Image data Converter, then edit the resulting jpegs/tiffs in Elements.

Use Adobe DNG converter. Convert your Sony RAW files to DNG and then process them in PSE6

The DNG converter is free and you can get it from the Adobe web site
