How do you clean glass before photographing

Yes
Not the lens, I mean like a wine glass. My flash seems to pick out every little speck of dust and every trace of a finger print left on it and they won't all shift no matter how much I polish. How do people manage those product shots where the glass is immaculate all over?

Very Hot water rinse and a micro fibre cloth normally does the trick for me when I have to clean glasses although never shot them!

I use white vinegar and water to cleen glass, then wipe off with a microfibre cloth :)

Boil the kettle, get a cup & fill it with hot water - hold the glass over so it steams then use a lint free cloth & polish...

Used to be a steward & thats how we polished glasses.....

:nono: DONOT dip the glass in the water thou... Like someone did then it shattered....

You can use vinegar or alcohol as the liquid and then you can also use newspaper to clean it.

When I worked at a picture frame manufacturers we had a bad delivery of mirrors and glass that we urgently needed so couldn't send it back. We had to use a spray on glass cleaner and every newspaper copy we could find on site :D

Methylated spirits and a lint free cloth, wear cotton gloves when handling..... I used to work for a company that built high end audio kit and it was the only way to get fingerprints off anodized aluminium, glass etc before shipping. It eats grease and evapourates quickly leaving zero residue and seems to hep in preventing dust from being attacted to surfaces (especially plastics).

Did you have to do that to every glass?
That is just :cuckoo:

Ohhhhh yesssss (as Churchill would say) It may seem crazy but rules were rules...

:suspect: That was in as a "silver service" steward & not as in a "[PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER]" thou....
