How do you clean your camera

Being new to all this I took my new Canon 50D to Glastonbury and came back with some lovely shots I'm pleased to say. However, the amazing weather we had this year meant the site and now my camera was covered in dust!

It's all over the body, in the viewfinder and all over the 2 lenses, both of which were covered with UV protectors luckily. I only changed lenses once or twice and was very careful to hold the body upside down so the sensor shouldn't have got anything in it.

So, what's the best way to clean the body and the glass?

I was thinking of using the same kind of cloth it use to clean my glasses or monitor, maybe with some alcohol based cleaner to clean the UV protector? But if my glasses are anything to go by that would cause smudges and the dust would just collect in the corners :(

For lenses I use a spectacle cloth - never had a problem.

I use a damp cloth or baby wipes to clean the body. To clean the sensor I wash it under the tap....*

(*I use a sensor swab kit)

I remember Rob (Arkady) describing his cleaning regime for the camera kit he was using over in Afghanistan - there's a short description here, but I seem to remember something more detailed. If it worked on ingrained in the field desert sands, it should handle a bit of Glasto-dust :)

Cheers mate - saves me writing it all out again...lol

Using a damp face-cloth is the easiest way to get the dust and dirt off the exterior...

That's good to know. I didn't really want to use anything wet to clean the exterior but it's good to know the camera can handle it.
