Yes
I don't know about you guys (i mean the ones who tog for a hobby - not the pro's) - but how do you fit it all into your life??

if i go out for a day shooting whatever i decide i want to do, i can sometimes have those images sat on my laptop for another week or so before i actually start to process them. i'll always flick thru and delete the trash as soon as i get home, but the ones i actually want to work with will take me ages to get round to.

i suppose that answers my question about why i've got about 5000 images sat there untouched on my laptop!!:bang:

do any of you have set routines that you stick to or are you more like me and chip away at the images whenever you get a minute?

I steal time when I can grab it, for both shooting and processing. I try not to leave images untouched on the puter, as I'm less likely to get back to them later.

Oh very simple. I don't process any of the photos I shoot.

It's an endless argument & debate; I just sort them, delete the crappy ones, rate the ones I'm keeping and leave it at that.

When will I do any processing? It's my retirement project ;). When I am too old and frail to go out shooting, when I am too ill to move, that's the time for me to set-up my permanent gallery and start doing the processing. The thing is, that time isn't so far away :p

Having a pregnant girlfriend that isn't in to photography doesn't help when I want to find time to go out shooting or sit on the computer for hours processing photos.

She loves to tell all her friends and family that her boyfriend is some fabulous photographer (which I'm not) but when it comes to me actually wanting to go out and do a shoot at the weekend then I'm suddenly needed for some shopping. It's a tough job balancing photography with having a life.

ha ha.. yes... i'm all over that one. i've had my services offered to all and sundry by family members, then when it comes to my own stuff.. forget it!!

I tend to have my computer in front of me when we are in front of the telly of an evening. TV is rarely interesting to keep me total attention so I doodle about on the pc as well - this tends to be when I get around to doing some photo stuff.

join a club if possible...this will put focus and vision in your photography
i was in one when i was a busy man as well...but made time to get the comp stuff in...i was really wanting to win something

now i am retired i take lousy shots and blame it on the low Mp camera

a hobby should be a relaxation...unless its karate or something like that:)

The simple answer is I just don't!

Either the girlfriend, the 9 month old or the dog all have a knack for finding something else for me to do, when I'm not at work. When I do get some free time I'm usually too shattered to sit down and start editing, or go out and shoot.

Occassionally I might get some time to go out with the camera, but it's usually weeks before I even get to upload them, they end up sitting on the CF card for weeks. This all means, that at the current rate, I'll have had enough practice to go pro by my 87th birthday

I watch very little TV but I dio love listening to music so after a shoot its into the "Entertainment" room stereo on with a nice bit of Prog fire up the laptop and work away tro my hearts content

I do my most of my processing at work (Payroll Office) during quiet periods, which is nearly all the time. I always have my external HD with me to transfer images back and forth.

I'm not a TV fan so when the family sit down to watch the soaps I sit in the dining room with my laptop and do my thing
