How do you put clickable areas on a website photograph?

I have a puzzle and wondered whether anyone could point me in the right direction please.

I have a map on a webpage showing the regions of a country and it is a .png file, although I suppose it could be saved as anything....

I would like to add areas or points onto it that can be clicked to be taken to another webpage relevant to that area. I already have conventional text links for navigation but would like the 'clickable map' as a second form of navigation.

I'm using CS3 Dreamweaver and Photoshop if that helps.

Any ideas? And not too technical descriptions if thats possible please

Try doing a google search for image maps and hotspot tutorials. Dreamweaver allows you to define "hotspots" on an image that will do what you want.

I couldn't think what to put in the google search but as you say 'image maps and hotspot tutorials' gives quite a few options to study.
