Yes
So I've heard over the years mold can occur if there is to much moisture. Similarly the lens cement can dry out if its to dry.

I just leave my kit bag open at home to let the air circulate. In China I notice they store there lens in dried tea!

anybody got any advice on good lens storage?

Cheers Stuart

I do take cameras/lenses out of the case when i get home.. never leave the case shut with them in.... thats about it.. As for china.. well maybe they ahve different problems based on different.. hmm whats the word? humidity? stuff like that?

keep the silika gel sachets that come with new bags and thing and put them in your camera case, they'll soak up the moisture an stop it getting in your lens.

I can see a strange logic in the tea if thats true, it would absorb excessive moisture without making things too dry I imagine, though as kipax says, I also pressume its down to different levels of heat and humidity.

As for storgae of my own kit, at home its in its various bags and cases, but they are left open to allow air circulation...ok, its laziness, it allows quicker access for me, but effect is the same.

I use the little silicon bags that are in the product boxes that contained my camera gear. I figure that if the manufacturers use them it's the way to go as expensive cameras and glass may sit on shelves in retailers' for unpredictable and periods of time in not always ideal environments.

Mine are in a shut Lowepro case kept indoors... I very much doubt it'll go mouldy.

I keep mine in the camera bag with silica gel sachets in the pockets. I do worry about fungus though, which is why I keep the bag in the sitting room. (Probably the least humid room in the house)

What's 'Silica Gel Sachets'?

I slept last night with the windows WIDE open and my new 50D with the 580EX II attached, as well as the 70-200L are all absolutely freezing as they were left on the sofa in my room. Whoops!

my kit is in which ever bag i used it in last, different bags for different jobs = 1 lens here and there but my bags are always open for quick access.

Either in a box (so they don't get knocked when I'm not using them and don't want to transport them) or my camera bag.

As for using tea  but I do know rice is excellent at absorbing moisture and should be a lot easier to clean off :D
