How do you tell how many photos a camera has taken?

Hi, My Canon 450D which I bought second-hand, has a life expectancy of 100,000 shots. Is there a counter somewhere in the software which keeps track?

Does it really matter? I've seen cameras with quoted 150K life expectancy die at 3k and there's a D200 (which is also a 150k camera) advertised in a dealers with nearly 500k.

Obviously to the original poster or they wouldn't have asked the question. :bonk:

To the OP, I think a free program called Opanda which lets you see all the Exif information embedded in the file. One of the items of information should be total shutter actuations. I think. ;) It's a long time since I used Opanda, and I use a different program to find such information with my Nikon camera.
