Maybe they use Google analytics - I do and find anything new on my website usually gets picked up within minutes - I will try a test page and see how long it takes - will come back when I have it posted
Google is known to look at how the content on a site changes and sites that change most often are visited most often - one of the reasons that blogs seem to rank well in relation to static sites.
Other factors include things like visitor counts and time on site.
So a site that regularly has new content that many people visit and stay for a good length of time is one that Google will index very often.

Wow - getting my site recognised is not going to be as easy I thought![]()
Have you registered the URL with google for them to crawl?
Yes, both Google and Bing. I'm pretty sure there's an easy way to find out when (if) Google crawled my site. Any ideas?
From what I'm reading, my site should get picked up from links in my TP posts. Does this make sense?
I have just had a quick look at your site. It has very little written content - the entry page and home pages are just basically one picture. Even your "about us" page gives no idea as to what part of the world you are in. If you want to attract clients I think it might help if they know where you are - I did find a town in one of the pages where I looked at the source code but I don't know whether this would be picked up as it does not appear in the wording on the site. I did read somewhere that search engines like written content, how true this is I don't know but it does make sense.
It looks as if your host has Google analytics but that you don't ?
var hasGoogleAnalytics = false;
var userGoogleAnalytics = "";
it is something worth considering to help your site be found.
Thanks Christine.
Your observations are correct. The main page of the site is literally just an entry to my main site. The main site is flash, and this is why I have created an entry page in simple HTML to give me more control over searchable content. I guess I may have to have some plain old text in the main page rather than hoping the meta tags will be enough for the crwaler thingy jiggy jobby
At the moment, google web tools states -
Crawl stats
Googlebot activity in the last 90 days
No data available.
Am I right in thinking (as the domain was only registered Saturday) that google just simply has not got round to crawling yet?

Santa didn't come to my house overnight, but the Googlebot has been to my site!
Looking at google webmaster, it didn't find any errors, but I still can't google myself!
Google might visit the site. However, it may not take any notice of any changes for a while
remember Google is looking for:
Content
changes in content
--
Also Google is looking at rapid changes in content (i.e. a children's cloths site that is suddenly a porn site)
Google will also be checking for stability (no point in a site where all the content is changing all of the time)
This is why google likes blogs / forums - because there is new relevant content being added to a pile of static existing content (growth)
google is skepical of new sites, it tends to keep an eye on them (for the reasons mentioned above) it also can sandbox a site, which effectivly pops you loads of pages back, untill it sees signs of permananceHi Richard. Thanks for taking the time to comment - much appreciated.
My website is a brand new domain. Not much content (yet) - granted, but does have some text with my name, town etc. This in itself is quite unique. I'm surprised that it's been crawled but ignored - if that is what it has done?
Many sites put a no follow condition on outgoing links so dont be surprised if google does not include links from this forum.From what I'm reading, my site should get picked up from links in my TP posts. Does this make sense?
