How does iWeb work?

Yes
I've created (or am part way through creating) a website using iWeb. It's for a string quartet which I play in, so it's fairly basic, but I will eventually want to add music recordings. I'm finding iWeb to be very good and easy-to-use. The only thing is that I've got not the foggiest how the whole process of publishing the website online actually works?

I know that I would need a .Mac account - but, if I were to buy this, would it provide me with a domain name, online storage etc.? If not, which providers would you recommend and how would everything work?

Alternatively, could I upload the site using a totally different (and hopefully cheaper!) hosting company? Again, which would you recommend?

Sorry for all the questions, but help would really be appreciated!

The mobile me (replacment for .Mac) account does give you storage and a domain (mymobilemeusername.me.com - or something like that) when you go to the publish button on iweb you can log into MM and it will put it all up. You can also buy your own Domain and hosting which is massivley cheaper (I pay around a tenner every 3 years rather than £60 a year) You can, using the same method, put in the details that your webhost gives you.

Thanks for your response!

I wouldn't like it to be '@.me.com' so I'll probably go down the same route as you. Do you mind me asking which hosting company you're using, and if you have any problems with them? I'm getting so many mixed reviews online!

I use the kerb http://www.thekerb.com. I bought the hosting off eBay actually in the first place and it has worked out fine. Not sure what they charge now but last time i looked it was very good value. Once I got all the FTP details it was easy. Never had to experience their support so can't be that bad!
