Hey All

I have sent off my beloved 5D and 85mm to Canon Elstree for service and calibration today.

Does anyone have any experience as to how long it will take?

I am wondering how long I will be without for work purposes.

Thanks in advance for your reply. :)

Thanks Malla. Was hoping for quicker but that isn't too bad.

Cheers for replying.

Nikon have just turned around a repair to that D3 I bought in just under 10 days - I always allow 14 days minimum for anything...

:s hope it won't be that long.
That D3 is infamous now! You can never sell it Rob

(only give it to me when you are done and I will see if I can be converted!)

hahah...I couldn't care less: brand-new camera despite what Nikon's warranty rules are regarding re-furbed shop-stock; 4 actuations (all mine) and a free repair, all for £1137.
I've just had to wait a month to get my hands on it...lol

what is the cost for calibration.
and is it needed for all lenses. i guess you have to pay the p&p to canon

You do indeed pay the pnp and they come back to you with a cost for calibration prior to any work being done.

Will report back on cost etc.

£60 a lens
what does it actually do , and does it make a big difference
could get a bit pricey if you send off all your lenses ,(well decent lenses ie L series)
and how do you know they need doing

Yep it does make a difference. My 85L has already been off for service but I have sent it with my main body this time so they can calibrate them both together as I think it was still back focusing slightly :)

Hey all!

Quicky update for the archives:

For calibration of AF, service and clean of both 85mm and 5D is 5 to 10 working days.

Total bill Inc vat and p&p is £177.

You a member of Canon CPS

7 weeks for a repair to my 13 months 10-400L at £225

3 days for a new sensor and rear screen under warrenty in my 5d2 after joining Canons CPS service.

Check on line to see if you qualify. If you have a coule of bodies and some L glass you will probably qualify for their basic CPS service.

:( unfortunately not - have 2 bodies but only 2 Ls :( for silver the requirement is three...

Thanks for the thought though.

Awww COME OOOOOON Canon! I miss my camera! Feels really weird without it!
