Hey,

Getting my D3100 tommorow :D

Just wondering how much I'll have to charge it for to get the best from the battery?

With products before I would use the product before charging it or using it without getting it a full charge and this would mean in the long run the battery life would not be as good. Is this the case with camera batteries?

Thanks, Ben.

charge it until its charged :) When the light stops flashing will be the best giveaway :p

lol

Doesn't normally take very long to charge, and it'll give you time to read the manual ;)

I charged mine for 12hrs. I went on the same principle as charging a new phone etc

12 hours??

Think my D700 batteries, from new, where charged in between 1-4, can't really remember exactly!

possibly a bit of charge overkill on my behalf lol

Managed to get hold of the battery and charger. :p Gonna leave it on overnight, is this gonna damage the battery or should it just be fully charged with no damage?

My en-el9 batteries for the D60 are good for 900 odd pics, and you know how long I charged them for lol

I have three, no doubt if you keep the camera you'll want a spare or more and always rotate them in order of usage/charge. They're life will last longer in the long run.

I usually charge batteries until the indicator light stops flashing (or whatever) and give them about an hour more. No complaints yet.
