How Many Jpeg/Raw Images with CF?

Hi, in my excitement at ordering my Nikon D200 I clean forgot I haven't got any compact flash cards. :bonk: I'm going to order a SANDISK EXTREME III CF 2GB CARD but until it arrives I'll probably get myself something locally so I can have a play.

Now my question is - how many Jpeg or raw images can you get on the various size compact flash cards using a 10 mp camera?

Well my 4gb card in my D200 gives me 240. So vecsri's quote of 120 seems entirely plausible to me. Although I've just checked a full card and it has 244 on it

It also tells me I should get 449 large fine JPEGs alhotugh they're known to underestimate too.

Yep, true. Didn't think of that. They do vary in size...

Thanks, Sounds like however many Jpeg you can approximately get half the amount in Raw or thereabouts.

But they can be double the image quality.
