Possibly this a photography question rather than equipment? inasmuch as the lens you use will reflect your style or ideas of photography?

anyway, after reading comments about people put off the change to full frame because of the cost of replacing their glass i started wondering just how many lenses most folk have and how often they use them? Obviously we need a few lenses....

For the record i use a 35mm almost all the time and a 50-150 at other times (but tbh i hardly ever use it)

3....and 2 :D

24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 IS are used most...whilst the old 50mm is barely out of the bag :(

Just the one 18-55mm,

I really need to get a better lens xD

50D with the 70-2OO f2.8 when needed, however anything under 70 will normally be the 28-105 (Tamron) which is too soft for my liking, it is an old lens afterall.

I think it is important to have a good variety of lenses.

8 and 5

im waiting canonbobs and puddleducks answers:LOL:

for me, 4 lenses, i use three of them

24-70 mostly, 50-150 when i need anything longer, and the 50mm when i can get away with a fixed focal length

Lets see....

Mamiya RB67 - three lenses
Bronica ETRS - two lenses
Minolta XE-1 - three lenses
Nikon FG - three lenses
Pentax SP500 - two lenses
Kodak Retina Reflex III - two lenses
No zooms, all primes. And about ten cameras with fixed lenses

I do like to go out with just one lens sometimes though.

Steve.

Have 5 (10-20, 17-40, 18-55, 50, 70-200)
Carry around 4 (10-20, 17-40, 50, 70-200)
Use 3 (10-20, 17-40, 70-200)

probably a lesson I should learn from that somewhere

10-20 use a lot
15-30 use occasionally
18-55 never use
28-135 use most
50 never use
100-300 use a lot, mostly with 1,4x converter

OK, mine are as follows:

Sony18-70 Kit lens - No longer used, sits in an old camera bag
Sony 75-300 - No longer used, sits in an old camera bag
Sigma 105mm Macro - Occasionally used for...erm...Macro. :D
Sony 50mm f1.4 - Was used as a back up when another lens was being repaired and probably only rarely used otherwise.
Sigma 50-500 - Used for Summer Polo and zoo trips
Sigma 24-70 f2.8 - Most used as everyday lens
Sigma 10-20 - Just bought
Sony 70-200 f2.8 - for general use when fast and long needed

So if I was to go full frame, the only lens I couldn't use would be the 10-20.

300 2.8L +1.4tc and a 24-70L 2.8 I also have a 100-400 L which gets very little use

Usually a maximum of three...but sometimes I go out with just one mounted to force me to concentrate.

5

Taron 17-50 (was my most used before i dropped it, waiting to get it back from repair)
Sigma 24mm (use alot)
Nikon 50mm 1.4 (think its great)
Sigma 70-200 (may use more now i dont have the 100-300 or 120-300)
Nikon 300mm F2.8 (not had long but it will get its fair use

still plan on others in there to, including an 85 and possibly another wide

some of these posts look more like a Ryder Cup score card :D

I use my sigma 70-200 2.8 the most, the rest in my signature when needed. Still yet to get the best from the 100-300 f/4.

have 24-70f2.8, 70-200f2.8vr, 50f1.4 and 300f4 with1.7tc

dont use the 50 much but also could do with a macro

9 and 8.

Four primes, 35mm, 50mm 85mm and 100mm macro
Five Zooms 15-30mm 24-70mm 24-105mm and 70-200mm (x2)

Then there are four MF lenses but they don't count :)

I was good though and sold a 100-400mm to finance the primes. The 15-30mm is due for replacement anytime soon (like when the prices are not utterly mental!)

i have 5 lens...

50mm F/1.7...used it twice since owning

17-70 sigma...used mostly for landscape work

24-70 sigma...practically lives on my camera for everyday use/walkabout

70-200 F/2.8...lives on my camera when i can't get enough reach with the 24-70

105 macro...used a fair bit when the bugs come out,and occasionally for indoor flower shots etc..when the weather is c**p.

Here goes then.....
Out of 25'ish lenses :)gag:) ten to twelve get regular outings;
600/4, 300/2.8, 200/2.8, 135/2, 85/1.2, 35/1.4, 24/1.4, TS-E24, MP-E65, 180L together with the 300/4 and 400/5.6 which are both away on their holidays at the moment.
The zooms rarely get an outing and the others are very much for specific things.

Bob

I have 10 (if you include the 1.4x TC) and I suppose I use all of them at times.
But I'm often just happy to be wandering about with a single prime. I *very* rarely have all of them with me (in fact I can't think of the last time I did).
I much prefer to just pack a bag with what I think I'll need at the time. If I get it wrong then... well life's like that sometimes :)

That's fab Bob, I just read that out at home and you have no idea how much credit I now have with he who must be obeyed!

Now would that TS-E24 like to come on holiday with Auntie Ali :)

well this is a popular topic!

and theres at least one more person who primarily uses a prime (see what i did there?)

I own 7 I regularly use one a 17-55 f2,8 Is

All Canon
70 - 200 f /2.8 most use
24 -105 f /4 very close second
100 macro f / 2.8 now and again
Nifty fifty f / 1.8 rarely these days
2x TC gets used with the 70-200 at times

I currently only have two lenses in my arsenal, both Sigmas:

Sigma 120-400mm f4.5-5.6 APO DG OS HSM - my main lens for motorsport

Sigma 18-125mm f3.8 (4!)-5.6 DC OS HSM - Used when the 120-400 is a bit too big and for my new interest in wide angle-ish shots.

My dearly departed Canon 50mm f1.8 was sold to fund the Siggy 18-125 purchase, but I'll be getting another ASAP. The Sigma 10-20mm is also currently at the very top of my wish list.

canon ef 300mm f4 L is
canon ef 400mm f5.6 L
tamron sp 300mm f2.8 +1.4X

I use them all the time, but thats the joy of shooting motorsport.

cheers paul

can i ask what folk use their 70-200s for? i know there must be a multitude of things but i hardly ever seem to pick up my 50-150 nice as it is
