How many shutter count for a second hand Nikon D200?

I'm looking at buying a second hand Nikon D200 body.

Here comes the trade-off of getting a body with a low shutter count (5,000-10,000) and paying a bit more (roughly £50-70 extra)

OR

getting a body with 20,000-30,000 that will be £50-70 cheaper relatively to a low shutter count body.

What would you do? Does the shutter actuation number really matter?

That is the average using feedback from users.

Personally, I'd spend a little more and get the lower one, but it depends if it was going to be my only camera and what condition the rest of the body is in.

It does matter, however, no point getting a low shutter count camera if it looks like its been dragged half way across the world.

Just find one in good condition you are happy with and go for it, its not really worth worrying about. After all, if could go at 15,000 or 150,000, just like a car :)
 
I bought a totally mint D200 with 3800 actuations on it for £350
and have been totally impressed by it so far

I bought mine over on AV forums
They are a lovely camera and you will be well pleased with one
Nice size nice weight and great build quality

Depends what your mileage a year is that you'll be using it. If like most, you only shoot a few thousand clicks a year, then even at 30-40 clicks it'll take you 10-15 years to even hit the 100,000 mark where it 'might' need replacing. I'd pay less, as ultimately after 1-2 years if you want to move on, then you've only added 10k clicks.
 
I can't reply to your pm, Rom, but I'd doubt you'd get a discount from MPB, their prices are already pretty keen - doesn't hurt to ask though.

Best to mention TP when contacting them too, as that might help :thumbs:
