How much should I ask?

Yes
I loaned my 400D to a friend and I'm considering asking him to make me an offer for it, I just don't know how much to regard as a decent offer.

The kit is:

Canon EOS 400D with around 12k clicks - almost mint condition, bought Nov 06
Canon Battery Grip with 2 Canon batteries and charger
Canon 28 - 135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens - less than 6 months old
2Gb CF card
and a Lowepro bag that I got for nothing from some magazine so I'll let that one go, I'll also throw in the 18-55 (non IS) kit lens
IR Remote control

I don't want to rip him off, but equallyt don't want to rip myself off and have no experience of the 2nd hand market.

Anyone want to sugest a fair price?

:agree: Yeah I'd say around the £550 - £600 area would be about right.

400D - £300
Grip - £50
28-135 - £250

Misread the lens - I would also say £600 with the lens, £300 without.

I was recently offered part-exchange, £180 for body, grip, two batteries and kit lens. A private sale would be around £220.

Ask for £580-£620.

Is this still the case?

Advice on the UK 2nd hand market may not be too useful...

Just looked at Warehouse Express and the 28-135 is going for £375 so you could possibly go to £650 imo :)

I'm in Houston, he's in the UK. Maybe I should have clarified that at the beginning.

We settled on £580 and I'm happy with that.
