HOW MUCH!!

Usually that's done when a seller is away on holiday or has no stock because it costs nothing to change the price on a listing but it costs something to list (as a business seller)

Also, search engines... Keeping the item on the same static item number means it gets crawled & remains a valid destination (albeit expensive) and not a "no longer for sale", but...

Further, once you've browsed there once, it hangs around in your eBay history... When the price returns to normal you may then be interested.

I'm more interested in the 54 previous buyers. More so than wondering who made the film.

The previous buyers might have bought their items at a much more reasonable price. As per hunnymonster's comments.

There is a second reason why these adverts may exist and that's to do with the import of (ahem) "interesting substances".

This was mentioned in one or two of the several programmes about smuggling, on Freeview. Whatever the truth, it does seem like an odd thing to do.
