How would i arrange to shoot studio photography..

i have never done anything like this before.. whats the average charge per hour and do they help set the studio up?

i have plenty more question but these will do for a starter for 10.

To shoot studio photography it helps having your own gear. You can hire a studio but that means it takes longer to learn. You need to set the gear up for what you want to shoot.

If you have never done it start with doing a few freebies until you are more confident Learn what you you need to get the job done (it's not easy at first) then you can start to charge.

Prices vary. If you can provide great consistent results your fee can go up :)

It depends on the studio :)

My local one has a set of four 1000W bowens on a highglide that are set as a default of f11 on an infinity cove and f8 on the subject. So for shooting white background it's all set up :) Pop model in place, attach trigger and shoot!

But they do also have about 10 other sets of lights to get creative with :)

Depends very much on the setup :)

I can tell you what our studio hire process is but other studios may differ.

You call us and ask to hire the studio on a particular day and time, if its free we take your booking and ask for a CC deposit to safeguard your booking,

We then ask you your experience within a studio setting and what help, if any you will require. We will also ask you how you want the studio set-up, ie High-Key, Low key, props etc.

We keep a register of local models so you may ask us to see if one is available.

You turn up on the day, and the studio is yours. There is always a well trained techy on hand to assist you should you require any help, we’ll show you the lighting system, where the props are and how to use them, advise of any aspect of studio work/lighting techniques etc. (this is included in the hire charge)

We charge £30 for the first hour and £25 per hour after that.

When you contact a local studio please make sure they do offer help, some will just let you get on with it. Also make sure that they had sufficient lighting/props to suit you shooting needs.

Good luck with your first studio shoot.

thanks for the info guys ... i may look into this.. im going to start a thread to ask of studio location in the newcastle area.

A little bit north of newcastle but there's a studio in Cramlington if I remember rightly (or at least there was a couple of years ago when I lived up that way).

Can't find a link to them but hopefully this google map will help

MAP

See the builgin labelled Fone Logistics, well there's an identical looking building north of it on the other side of the road. It's a row of industrial units. One of them had the studio in it but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it. Might be worth taking a drive down there.

Hope this helps,
Kev
