So I've been taking photographs for quite a long time - on film. Having just gone digital I'm realising just how much I don't know about the diffeent medium. I've had a look on Amazon at basic books on digital photography and there seem to be a great many! I'm wondering if anyone on here can recommend a book that will get me up to speed without assuming I'm either a klutz with an IQ smaller than his shoe size - or a computer geek. I'm neither. Of course, it also needs to be reasonably up to date; things move considerably faster than they did with film!

Take a look on Amazon at the Scott Kelby Digital Photography books. I've got the first three in a box set and he covers everything from sports, portraits, landscapes, studios etc.

Maybe look for them in your local library or bookshop and check them out first before purchasing them.

:plusone: For the library sugestion. DON'T just flick though brand new copies of the books in Smiths, Waterstones or the like - that just makes the copies shop soiled and unsellable!

Much of the principles of film photography still apply, exposure, shutter, aperture, ISO focusing, are all the same, the advantage of digital is that you can go from 100 ISO to 1600 in a blink :D There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube, so a look on there might be worthwhile.

:plusone: excellent website, I've got it in my favourites but keep forgetting its there.
